Who will be victorious?
Lakers Ritual
The Los Angeles Lakers new ‘ritual’ on the sideline… Thought it was pretty funny so I decided to share with you all!
Florida State escapes North Carolina
This game was the worst start in Florida State’s history since Bobby Bowden took the reigns. Luckily, our team prevailed and came back to win a close one against North Carolina (and Julius Peppers and Lawrence Taylor). Although I’m happy we won, I think the referees should be questioned about the last call of the game when our defensive back intercepted the ball and took it to the house. The play was called incomplete on the field, but after review it clearly showed the ball never touched the ground – yet it was still called incomplete.
DIRTY hit
I’m just glad this guy was ejected.. These kind of plays are dangerous and very uncalled for. I don’t know whether he’s been fined or not, but I know he will be and I hope he is fined for a very, very large sum of money.
The Fantastic (number) Four
Just like the comic book heroes, Brett Favre has come to save the day. Although he isn’t invisible, nor is he stretchable or made of fire, Favre does seem to be invincible. When Favre isn’t busy saving the world from destruction, he’s leading his new team, the Minnesota Vikings, to the playoffs. Yes, I said playoffs. I’ll be the first to admit that the whole Favre retirement dilemma was ridiculous, drawn out, and overrated. But, yet again, Favre has proven me (and every critic) wrong.
Bowden's Future Uncertain
Long-time head coach of the Florida State Seminoles, Bobby Bowden, has been called out by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees to resign. The question many are asking is: Is it truly his time to go? Are the recent disappointing seasons truly his fault?
Sharks sign a pair of goalies
The San Jose Sharks have re-signed goaltender Thomas Greiss to a two-year contract and signed Swedish netminder Henrik Karlsson to a one-year deal. Terms were not disclosed. Karlsson, 25, spent most of last season with Malmo in Sweden’s second-tier league, posting a 2.45 GAA and a .921 save percentage in 32 regular-season games. Greiss appeared in 57 games for the AHL Worcester Sharks during the 2008-09 season. He went 30-24-2 with a 2.47 goals-against average, one shutout and a .907 save percentage. Greiss was 6-6 in the playoffs with a 2.43 GAA, two shutouts and a .912 save percentage.
Preseason Football and Contract Bling
My friends, the time is finally here. Well, almost. Tonight marked the beginning of the NFL season with the Hall of Fame game between the Tennessee Titans and the Buffalo Bills. The first preseason game has already given us an amazing fake punt, the infamous Terrell Owens first game in a Bills uniform, and a win for Titan fans. The NFL preseason will be in full swing starting this Thursday (August 13).
Broken ankle sidelines newcomer Barnes
Raiders newcomer Khalif Barnes is out for six-to-eight weeks with a broken left ankle, which means his training camp in Napa is done. That makes incumbent Mario Henderson the starting left tackle when the season starts Sept. 14 against the Chargers. It also means Cornell Green has a safer hold on the right tackle job. Barnes was a candidate to move to the right side if Henderson held on to his starting job. Barnes went down in a heap during practice Tuesday morning. He was unengaged in pass protection when left guard James Marten knocked defensive tackle Ryan Boschetti into Barnes’ left knee.
Your Fantasy Draft Position Report
The time has finally come my friends. It is August, and you all know by now that this month means one thing: fantasy football. If they haven’t already, soon many leagues will come together and have their fantasy draft. It’s hard to determine who will win on draft day, but at the end of the year draft day will prove to be the most crucial day for any fantasy manager. You must come in to draft day prepared, knowing who should go when and what sleepers are still on the market later in the draft.
