49ers 2010 NFL Roster Cuts: Team reaches 53-man limit

The 49ers made their roster cuts and there's a good deal to discuss. There's a few things of specific note, but first let me go ahead and list the final cuts, with a thanks to Matt Barrows of the Sac Bee for being on top of everything today. You can follow him on Twitter @mattbarrows.

Surprising cuts to me would be LB Matt Wilhelm, RB Michael Robinson and CB Karl Paymah. Cutting Wilhelm leaves the team with three inside linebackers by my count, so surely they have their eye on the waiver wire. Robinson, we all know how I feel about that one, but I am thinking that special teams will be fine this year, just a bit skeptical at the moment. One has to wonder if it will always be this stop-gap now, because the studs on ST this year will surely be starters next year. Paymah, I didn't like, but I honestly resigned myself to thinking he'd be in.

I imagine we'll see some more moves, I doubt the team sticks with three inside linebackers, so we'll see what happens on that front. One has to wonder who of this group is not safe. One thing we can probably count on is OL Tony Wragge being cut at some point around week three when Eric Heitmann is coming around. Could the team go with three inside until then? It will be interesting to find out.
