49ers-Chargers: What to watch for in an otherwise meaningless game
In his post-practice media session yesterday, Coach Singletary spoke about how players had been practicing this week more just to get through today's game and get to the cuts and the regular season. There's a certain malaise that sets in after a month of training camp, at which point the team is just ready to be done with it.

Golden Nuggets: Gameday!
Good morning everyone. It's gameday, and by the time you read this I'm going to be in a cold-medicine induced coma while I attempt to recover fully so I can make it out to San Fran for the game tonight. I know that there won't be many starters playing, but you can't beat gameday at the 'Stick if you want 49ers; and that's a fact. We had a bit of controversy at practice yesterday, and it's got me a little worried. Truthfully, I've been worried about Crabtree since the moment we drafted him.

That plan was thrown off Tuesday, however, when Sorgi went on injured reserve with a bad shoulder. That leaves unproven second-year man Rhett Bomar as Manning's No. 2. Back in Indianapolis, without Sorgi, Eli's older Peyton is now backed up by Curtis Painter, who like Bomar, was a 2009 late-round pick. Neither Bomar nor Painter has inspired confidence with their preseason performances, but fans of both the Giants...
Niners' Vernon Davis, Mike Crabtree in shouting match (SportingNews.com)
Vernon Davis is a captain for the San Francisco 49ers, but the tight end's prolonged shouting match Wednesday with wide receiver Michael Crabtree crossed the line with coach Mike Singletary. As the Niners prepared for Thursday's exhibition finale, Singletary separated his receivers and eventually ushered both players off the field and into the locker room, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Crabtree has yet to play in this summer's exhibitions because of a neck injury, and the Mercury News suggests Davis was chewing out his second-year...
