Cy Young Award

pkang55 Rookie 1,346 Posts	With objectivity, who do you think should win the NL Cy Young Award? Carpenter, Wainright, or Lincecum. Lincecum does not have as many wins but leads the league in strikeouts, Carpenter leads the league in ERA and Wainright in wins.

RicknCrockett Rookie 81 Posts	You know I’m not sure man it’s just that when I classify Cy Young it seems to be tied to eras in baseball and right now it’s just not something that is pressing to me. It’s like when Lincecum is striking out those pros out there its not a measure for the league its more like hes using a formula, for instance while playing in the winter on a cold day he strikes out a bunch of batters you know what I mean its not striaght up like Lincecum takes the league head on. But its not disrespect to him as I mentioned eras of baseball pertaining to Cy Youngs. Most recipients get creamed by hitters but he did it its just like its so different from the recent pitchers that I over looked him. Yes he’s a winner. I’d pick him for the Cy Young. You see the guys in the past when they lost it was shocking. When the Braves didn’t win you never questioned why or criticized but they did the same thing as Lincecum. Ben Mc Donald didn’t always have successful seasons but he always won. It’s like in his case I backed away and was like oh that’s baseball. It’s difficult to do. At least he’s not a closer, that merits him a commendation. Spare body parts in those ranks across the league is the state of affairs because of the Clemons legacy and chunk of baseball history. alex Rookie 4 Posts	I remember going to a Braves game in 95.. I was only 9 so I don’t remember too much of it.. My favorite players then were Smoltz and Justice.. Still crazy to see Smoltz in the league.. seems like he’s been there forever now lol but as for the san fran pitchers..
