2010 Fantasy Sleeper and Breakout Players
Here are my candidates for Come Back Player of the Year or Break Out Players to look out for on draft day:
1) Carlos Gonzalez -OF Rockies (a no-brainer here) – round 10-12 this guy should be there. Can put up gawdy Beltran like numbers in his first full season.
2) Connor Jackson – 1B D’Backs – virtually going un drafted in most 12 team mixed leagues. Pick him up late and be pleasantly surprised this season.
3) Clayton Kershaw SP Dodgers Filthy stuff to go with a nasty change up he just added to his arsenal. Expect 14-16 wins and 200K’s for Clayton in 2010. Take him in rounds 11-13 in most twelve team mixed drafts. Great #2 behind Sabathia, Halladay or Verlander in your fantasy rotations.
4) Jason Heyward – OF -Braves – Not sure how long before this offensive stud gets called up to play a full year with Atlanta. But this rookie is tearing the cover off the ball in spring training and looks very patient when not swinging. Could be the next Griffey Jr. -Ryan Howard hybrid we’ve been waiting for. Can get him rounds 19 or higher in most drafts.
5) Aroldis Chapman -SP -Reds – 100 mph with filthy off speed stuff to boot. If only this kid can get greater command of his stuff and reduce his walks per 9 IP…..could be this year’s version of 2008 Edinson Volquez. Also hope manager Dusty Baker doesn’t over work him either like he tends to do. Can snatch him in round 18 or higher.
6) Troy Glaus – 1B/3B – Braves – Back in a Braves uniform, healthy wrist and rejuvinated…...Glaus could be back to mashing monster shots over the wall in Turner Field. Expect him to play about 135-145 games at the first and hit about .275 and smash abut 28 HR’s in 2010.
7) Adrian Beltre – 3B -Red Sox – See Glaus above while playing in the band box known as Fenway Park.
8) Brandon McCarthy -SP-Rangers – I just like this kid’s stuff and he should have plenty of run support playing on a Texas Rangers squad that is stacked on offense. Can hit the 15 win plateau in 2010 and is virtually un drafted.
9) Rajai Davis – OF -A’s – Need SB’s and a decent batting average to boot. Take this stud in rounds 14 or higher as Rajai Davis seemed to electrify the Coliseum in the second half of 2009. In a full season, a .295 BA, 45 doubles and 65 SB’s isn’t out of question for this young and upcoming player.

I remember going to a Braves game in 95.. I was only 9 so I don’t remember too much of it.. My favorite players then were Smoltz and Justice.. Still crazy to see Smoltz in the league.. seems like he’s been there forever now lol
but as for the san fran pitchers.. I hope Cain earns the Cy Young award.. such an honor as it is alreay, and to be on a team that won it back-to-back must make it amazing
